Nice, I've recently picked up an 89 VN Calais. Needs a little body work, a new interior and every single fucking bush replaced but here are the good parts;
HSV Enhanced 180kw 5.0, 3000hi-stall, built auto and minispooled 3.45 rear. This picture is when I bought it, that pod filter was replaced with a factory SS cold-air intake straight away.

I prefer the VN actually, the VR happened to be available at the right place and time. Was the normal V6 auto with 270k km but had some very minor exterior mods when I bought it which improved the look at least. I wanted a ute really.
HSV motor sounds like good fun, are you going to make it your own now, personal project or is it investment? Surprises me with the Falcon in your name, but then I drive a Mondeo now...
I'm a huge fan of the Commodore of all generations, loving what they're doing with the wagons lately. Although, if i'm going back to Australia for a vehicle, it will be for a Land Cruiser 70 first.

Burnout car. With Calder Park back open I have a local burnout pad that I'm itching to lay my mark on. I've grown out of street antics, and so has my poor old daily Falcon XG Ute.
I honestly never thought I would own one, but all my mates are Holden fans, so I was always seeing how much easier it was for them to get parts, just how much easier they were to hoon in general. My good mate Azza the 5.0Guru has an immaculate polar white VN SS (stock motor, 4000rom stally, 4.11gears), and he convinced me haha helps that he has 4 spare motors, 3 spare gearboxes and a shed full of various other spares.

My grandpa used to have a VR acclaim, the exhaust rusted out, so he had it replaced with a catless non-res system. It sounded so good for a V6.
My missus has a VX wagon, that old shitbox has 350,000km and is still going strong. It's hilarious fun in gravel parking lots too...

My VR had a lot of issues, but it lasted me while I was in Australia and was great fun. Gave me my first experiences of opposite lock!
The VX has a European cousin, the Opel/Vauxhall Omega. I'm always tempted to part with some cash for one. There's a 2001 2.6 V6 manual wagon for £1800 and low miles, it's begging me to buy it. Not as good as an aussie VX but as close as I could get now.

This is my old '91 VP Commodore 'S' I owned about six years ago. Kept it pretty stock aside from FE2 suspension, a set of polished Simmons B45s and lettered tyres, and a sports exhaust.
I miss it :(

Can't beat the look of a stock VR HSV, imo...
...or VS :)
